Responsibilities

  • Directly supervises all employees on their assigned organizational unit.
  • Interviews, hires, and trains employees; plans, assigns, and directs work; appraises performance; rewards and disciplines employees, up to and including termination of their employment; addresses complaints and resolves problems.
  • Ensures the proper training and development of all assigned employees for whom they are responsible. Works with Human Resources to identify training gaps and develop appropriate training activities for employees; completes their own required training and ensures that all employees also complete their required training; utilizes Berry University resources to accomplish training goals.
  • Assesses employee readiness for promotion, interviews and identifies appropriate candidates for vacancies.
  • Conducts performance appraisals; rewards and disciplines employees; addresses complaints and resolves problems; maintains appropriate documentation.
  • Motivates and coaches employees through good communication and frequent performance feedback.  Identifies and coordinates additional training as needed.
  • Delegates work activities to others to efficiently manage their unit.
  • Completes responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and procedures, and applicable laws.
  • Ensures the safety of all employees for whom they are responsible by checking for safety/housekeeping hazards and addressing issues immediately.
  • Reports any infractions to Safety Manager or other management as appropriate.
  • Performs all responsibilities in a safe manner; acts as a role model for safety.
  • Completes incident reports thoroughly, timely, and accurately.  Conducts preliminary investigations on safety incidents.
  • Reviews and assigns safety topic discussions at meetings to Team/Group Leader(s); communicates with other Supervisors and Managers as appropriate on safety issues.
  • Oversees required training on selected safety topics.
  • Sets goals for their organizational unit; achieves {production/maintenance/shipping} goals and ensures that all employees understand and work toward achieving goals.
  • Assures efficient and economical utilization of all resources and materials.
  • Reviews product and process quality performance of organizational unit.
  • Organizes employee driven teams to address operational, quality, safety or other organizational related issues.
  • Prepares staffing plans to ensure adequate coverage is maintained for all responsibilities of their organizational unit. Reviews operational schedules, employee vacation requests, and absences to determine required staffing.  Utilizes labor efficiently to achieve optimal operating efficiencies.
  • Ensures that employees are paid properly.
  • Ensures the all processes run according to instruction/specification.
  • Attends meetings as necessary and provides information regarding others to their own organizational unit.
  • Communicates with others to anticipate and prepare for any possible problems.
  • Conducts meetings with employees to provide information on organizational, quality, safety, and policy issues. 
  • Delegates responsibilities for other items to assigned Team/Group Leader(s).
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by their manager.

High School Diploma, GED or equivalent required.  Candidates with 4 year college degree or 2 - 4 year technical degree preferred. Minimum of 2 years of previous leadership experience is desired.

Wage Range: $55,000- $60,000
