Responsibilities

  • Champion lean manufacturing and continuous improvement principles throughout the organization by using lean manufacturing tools such as DMAIC, 5S, FEMA, Kanban, and visual management, etc.
  • Lead implementation of root cause analysis and corrective actions to solve production/quality issues.
  • Develop and/or update training materials, standard operating procedures, work instructions, and forms to ensure that optimized processes are effectively adopted and maintained by teams.
  • Gather and analyze data, performance metrics, and key performance indicators (KPIs) to quantify process inefficiencies and track improvements over time.
  • Perform system reviews and training to ensure quality system policies, standard operating procedures, work instructions, and job instructions are being used and followed and assist in establishing or improving process flows for standard work.
  • Design, develop, and implement process improvements to increase productivity and reduce waste/scrap.
  • Generates risk assessments, engineering requirements and works with manufacturing to implement new product/process development projects.
  • Collaborate with teams to develop and propose practical solutions, including process redesign, automation, or technology enhancements.
  • Supports and adheres to Berry’s Safety, Quality and Productivity goals.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Must be able to remember department and company policies and procedures and recall multiple operations.

  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret professional journals, scientific and technical journals.
  • Proficiency with MSoffice, database applications.
  • Data and statistical analysis skills (Excel, Minitab, R…)
  • Education and/or Equivalent Experience
    • Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) or equivalent from a college or university in an engineering or related field; and one to five years related engineering experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience with an emphasis in manufacturing environment.
  • Physical Requirements/Work Environment
    • Must be able to work safely in the vicinity of open flames, hot plastic, oil and metal (at approximately 350-380 degrees). There is possible exposure to dust and odors from various substances such as oil, molten plastics, degreasers and cleaning solvents.
    • Noise level is usually 90dB and above and requires ear protection.
    • Must be able to work safely around sharp edges of machinery and moving machine components.
    • Must wear the following personal protective equipment: rubber soled/ steel toed shoes, ear plugs, safety glasses, hard hat, gloves and forearm sleeves.
    • Must be able to read and understand all work procedures and instructions.
