Responsibilities

The Injection Molding Manager directs, plans, and administers the activities of the Molding Department by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate Supervisors; assists and represents Plan Manager with Plant Management and direction as needed.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Accountable for the safety of all employees for whom they are responsible through active engagement in safety activities and provides clear, consistent communication of safe work expectations.
  • Supports and investigates situations in which line/equipment stoppage occurs due to perceived, imminent safety risk.
  • Completes responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and procedures, and applicable laws.
  • Actively leads risk assessment activities for their area of responsibility by driving prioritized corrective and preventative actions to eliminate/reduce environmental, health, and safety risks.
  • Lead all required meetings safety (i.e. Pre-shift, Departmental, Change Management, General communication, Town Hall, etc.).
  • Completes incident investigations, root cause analysis and implements corrective actions accordingly in a timely and thorough manner.
  • Ensures the proper training and development of all assigned employees for whom they are responsible.
  • Sets goals for their organizational unit; achieves goals and ensures that all employees understand and work toward achieving goals.
  • Motivates and coaches employees through good communication and frequent performance feedback. Identifies and coordinates additional training as needed.
  • To provide guidance to the Molding Group team members.
  • Monitor mold repair and rebuild intervals.
  • Submit and approve capital expenses for mold repairs.
  • Monitor efficiency reports and determine areas that require special attention.
  • Coordinate with all support groups i.e. Maintenance, Scheduling, Printing, and etc.
  • Oversee employee evaluations once a year.
  • Troubleshoot problems in the molding process pertaining to the mold.
  • Assist in the training of new personnel.
  • Fully understand and utilize the established QSI/ISO, HACCP, SQF, and GDC procedures.
  • Safety Leadership – Embodies commitment for a safe workplace; acts as a role model on safety leadership, activities and communication.
  • Accountability – Holds himself/herself accountable as evidenced by say/do ratio, initiative and ownership actions (such as ensuring safety is more important than productivity).
  • Communication – Ability to communicate safety, goals and Company expectations with appropriate levels of the organization; create clear, timely audience appropriate messages (both written and verbal).
  • Engagement – Communicate and support the vision of plant leadership; celebrate the wins, and ensure employees actively participate in safety-related activities.
  • Team Development – Understand the development needs of employees in your organization; drive the culture of employees as safety leaders; champion talent development from pre-hire to continuous learning.
  • People Agility – Understand personal strengths and weaknesses; leads by example; promotes change through listening skills and seeking frequent input from employees; is genuine and approachable; firm by fair – consistent.
  • Problem Solving/Conflict Resolution – Identifies and resolves problems in a timely manner; gathers and analyzes information skillfully; develops alternative solutions; mitigates relationship conflicts and encourages constructive (problem solving) conflict.

 

 

Qualifications

EDUCATIONAL, SKILL & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.  The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.  Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

  • Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) preferred with eight to ten years related experience and/or training in a manufacturing focused industry; Evidence of previously building a highly effective, successful management team
  • Knowledge of complex, multi-step manufacturing processes is a must. 
  • A background in a strong process controlled, sophisticated, structured, manufacturing management environment evidenced by knowledge of rigorous management systems
  • Strong working knowledge of statistical Process Control is required.
  • Present a positive and professional attitude at all times while interfacing with all relevant parties.
  • Must possess excellent interpersonal, communication, written and leadership skills while working under a pressure situation.
  • Capable of working extended workdays and weekends as required.
  • Must complete and pass pre-employment drug screen and background check.
  • Technical injection molding experience.
