Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the safety of yourself, your co-workers, and the environment.
  • Sign in truck drivers and direct them to dock doors based on scheduled appointments.
  • Review the shipping logistics menu for any orders to be shipped and print pick-packs.
  • Route and schedule all shipments from branches using Brokers/3PL or customer routing portals/guides.
  • Use the truck management system (TMC) to build and schedule loads that are not customer pick-up.
  • Review and utilize the dock manager to schedule all inbound and outbound ST/OTs.
  • Effectively communicate between the plants, the DC, and the Manager regarding inventory issues such as shortages or damage.
  • Ship confirm all shipped loads at the end of the day.
  • Communicate with CSR about loads that did not ship and require date changes.
  • Identify and report safety concerns through near misses and observations.
  • Always strive for zero waste, zero litter, and involvement in the recycling program.
  • Responsible for the quality of all processes and products encountered.
  • Be knowledgeable and fulfill all customer requirements.
  • Identify and report all quality concerns to any supervisor or quality technician.
  • Be actively engaged in safety and quality programs.
  • Responsible for developing a safe and friendly work environment.

Business Requirements

  • Follow all ISO, GMP, and Food Safety requirements and standard operating procedures.
  • Maintain a clean working area in all Material Handler areas.

Material Control

  • Assist in breaking down empty gaylords and maintain the baler.

OTHER DUTIES, AUTHORITY AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform other functions as necessary or as assigned.
  • Assist in maintaining silos and cleaning.
  • Report damages and unsafe conditions.
  • Assist other Material Handlers as needed or directed by the Warehouse Manager.
  • Participate in all physical inventories.

Qualifications

  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with co-workers.
  • Moderate organizational skills, including the ability to complete multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Ability to read Standard English text for requirements on pack lists.
  • Communicate effectively with individuals from various social, cultural, economic, and educational backgrounds.
  • Perform effectively in environments with frequent workload changes and competing demands.
  • Use simple math to add, subtract, multiply, and divide for material calculations.
  • Make appropriate job decisions by following standard policies and past precedents.
  • Verbal communication skills adequate for using a radio or paging system to contact co-workers in other areas of the complex.
  • Recognize emergency situations and take appropriate action.
  • Ability to stand and walk for a minimum of 7 hours during an 8-hour shift.
  • Hearing sufficient to recognize and respond to shouted warnings, alarms, and horns on forklifts.
  • Proficient in JDE.
  • Frequently lift, push, and pull loads of no more than 35 lbs. without the use of an assisting device.
  • Safely operate a forklift in high-traffic, low-clearance areas without posing a safety risk to others.
  • Climb ladders and steps safely without assistance and without being at risk of sudden alterations in consciousness.
