Responsibilities

PURPOSE:  To ensure all Printing Leads are working to the same expectations and guidelines

 

SCOPE:  All personnel in the Print Department who carry the title "Lead" or "Back-Up Lead" 

 

REPORTS TO:  All Printing Leads report directly to the Printing Group lead on their designated shift

 

 

AUTHORITY:

  • Stop production of any press if safety of the employee is in question
  • Stop production of any press if a customer’s quality expectations are not being met
  • Stop production if safety and quality standards are not being met by the packing team. Address accordingly 
  • Stop production if metrics are not being met; production, efficiency, scrap. Adjust accordingly 
  • Make adjustments on any equipment for either a safety, quality or metric concern
  • To give verbal & written warnings to any employee with proper evidence of non-compliance 
  • Any decision regarding safety, quality or production issues when an employee or product are at risk
  • All decisions made should be discusses by the shifts leadership team when time allows

OTHER ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Front line supervision of production in accordance with safety and quality standards
  • Responsible for maintaining a high level of housekeeping within the department
  • Must know how to locate film (artwork) for each order and make plates accordingly
  • Responsible for mixing ink if needed to keep presses running
  • Responsible for making repairs to presses throughout the shift to keep EFF, MEEF and scrap in line with daily targets 
  • Must be able to complete all paperwork and reports assigned to the Printing Department (032 report, manning roster, web eff, etc.) 
  • Oversee production, resolve difficulties, maintain quality, and insure safety of all employees
  • Other duties as directed by Printing Manager or Shift Group lead 

Responsibilities and Authority include but are not limited to assuring compliance with 

federal, state, government and/or any appropriate regulatory law or guidelines.

QUALIFICATIONS:

ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Must be able to pass color blind test
  • Past experience as a printer and or technician to perform all facets of training within department
  • Mechanically inclined
  • Ability to supervise employees in a non-biased manner
  • Work well with all employees
  • Must know how to locate artwork and make plates accordingly if necessary
  • Must have good attendance and performance evaluations
