POSITION SUMMARY
The Loader reports directly to the Shipping Warehouse/Department Manager for loading/unloading trucks, staging loads, verify correct products/quantities. Responsible for keeping the warehouse/dock clean, neat and orderly. In performing these responsibilities, employees are to work safely, efficiently, and cooperatively in a manner that demonstrates team member involvement.
KEY FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Must be safety minded; satisfactory knowledge of forklift, yard dog, and driving practices. Responsible for daily general maintenance on forklifts, such as checking oil levels, back-up beeper, tires. Will ensure proper safety measures are followed while working on/around forklifts, yard dog, and will follow safety procedures pertaining to the use of battery chargers, chocking wheels, etc. Will report any forklift, yard dog maintenance needs to Manager.
- Must have good knowledge of both finished products and raw materials, and will be able to read and understand incoming and outgoing orders. Must understand labeling and packaging processes.
- Responsible for loading trucks to customer specifications; verify quantity, product, labeling and packaging is correct. Ensure correct count and correct production dates of product are pulled to staging area for audit.
- Must be able to clearly communicate; verbally communicate with Manager, Material Handlers, and truck drivers; able to complete all documentation with neatness and accuracy.
- General housekeeping of warehouse and dock areas. Will verify work area and product (finished and raw materials) are properly and safely stored. Ensure all trucks are swept and cleaned prior to loading.
- Support inventory counts, follow pick and put away plan, accurately maintain inventory records.
- Use problem-solving skills to handle situations that may arise.
