Berry Global is seeking a cross functional Engineer with excellent team skills, capable of coordinating with internal and external teams, suppliers and manufacturing locations. This position will assist in the development and implementation of standardized machine reliability programs; Guide decisions on corporate injection machine selection to improve standardization while maintaining flexibility of assets; Collect data to help prioritize capital spend, equipment needs, and training needs to improve machine safety, reliability and increase performance.

Responsibilities

2.0 RESPONSIBILITIES:

2.1 Use caution and support facility systems to assure safety event free facilities.

2.2 Respond to any emergency or potential emergency following established procedures.

2.3 Observe, respond and report any instance of process or product non-conformity.

2.4 Security diligence: maintain control of key cards, prevent unauthorized entry to facilities by non-Berry employees, and proper maintenance / security of Berry equipment.

2.5 Successfully complete Primary Duties as outlined in 4.0 and associated training.

 

3.0 AUTHORITIES:

3.1 Pause activity and notify Safety lead in any facility regarding instances of potentially unsafe work environments or employee and supplier practices.

3.2 Initiate action to prevent occurrences of any non-conformity of product or quality systems.

3.3 Initiate, recommend or provide solutions through designated channels.

3.4 Suggest actions for continual improvement to products, processes, facilities or systems and verify the implementation of solutions.

 

4.0 PRIMARY DUTIES include tasks assigned by the Director of Machine Programs, in addition to:

4.1 Always work with safety as primary goal, adhere to Berry, industry, and/or regulatory procedures.

4.2 Assist teams in further development and implementation of standardized Machine Reliability & Monitoring programs.

4.3 Collect data to help prioritize: capital spend, equipment needs and training needs to improve machine reliability and increase up time.

4.4 Guide corporate injection machine selection, support purchasing of machines, and coordination of machine moves.

4.5 Lead capital projects from concept, to quoting, and implementation through final review.

4.6 Participate in training, and develop training in areas of reliability, preventative and predictive maintenance.

Qualifications

5.0 QUALIFICATIONS / EDUCATION REQUIRED:

5.1 Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent experience.

5.2 Plastics industry experience. Injection molding machine or tooling experience preferred

5.3 Proficient with Microsoft tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) AutoCAD 2D experience preferred.

5.4 Strong time management and communication skills (written and verbal)

5.5 Ability to manage multiple projects and meet timelines.

5.6 Assertive, creative and data driven.

5.7 Experience with reliability tools and programs or TPM preferred.

5.8 Ability to travel as needed, approximately 25-50% of time. Some international may be required.
