Responsibilities
- Designing, developing, installation and upgrade machine controls for assigned manufacturing machinery and equipment
- Serving as automation technical resource for continuous improvement and capital projects efforts
- Identifying and initiating improvement projects that help meet site goals;
- Providing PLC and drive support for plant equipment
- Developing electrical design, schematics and drawings using AutoCAD
- Documenting electrical modifications made to equipment (i.e. updating schematics, drawings, work instructions, etc.)
- Interpreting mechanical design drawings for electrical requirements
- Reviewing, repairing and redesigning legacy code
- Troubleshooting issues with existing installed systems
- Preparing plan of corrective action for equipment identified as potential to fail
- Preparing cost justifications for projects
- Supporting and maintaining a culture of continuous improvement, quality, high performance and process excellence
- Remaining familiar with new equipment and assisting in training other technicians
- Ensuring compliance to all safety policies and procedures. Establishing, supporting and maintaining a “safety first” culture
- Accountable for employee safety through active engagement in safety activities and provide clear, consistent communication of safe work expectations
- Completing incident investigations, root cause analysis and implementing corrective actions accordingly in a timely and thorough manner
- Staying informed of process changes which may affect the normal operation of the equipment
Qualifications
- At least 3 years’ experience in the following:
- B.S. in Engineering – Electrical preferred.
- debugging and testing electro-mechanical systems and controls
- configuring HMIs for discrete manufacturing equipment
- programming and commissioning motion control systems including multi-axis robots and servos
- programming PLC based controls for manufacturing
- industrial automation with electro-mechanical and controls work
- machine vision applications a plus
- Must be able to organize work, prioritize tasks, maintain multiple projects and meet established deadlines.
- Effectively collaborate with mechanical/process engineers in the development of automated systems
- Must have strong working knowledge of computer programs such as Microsoft Excel and Word
