Overview

Act as an advocate for Berry’s #1 value of safety throughout the organization. Works with the leadership team to develop an EHS plan for the site that aligns with Berry’s EHS Vision. Coordinates and directs environmental, health and safety compliance for the plant including documentation, submissions and training to meet OSHA and Berry requirements including liaison with state and regulatory agencies.

Responsibilities

· Support implementation of EHS management system (policies, procedures, forms, Work Instructions and annual improvement plans for site.

· Report on the effectiveness of the plant EHS System and the need for improvement in Business Reviews.

· Help communicate Divisional initiatives, guidance, regulatory updates, and relevant incidents.

· Assist with site Risk Management process as directed to include Risk Assessments, Work Instructions, and control/mitigation activities.

· Ensure Management of Change (MOC) process is being followed and maintain records for new equipment or materials and changes to equipment or materials.

· Facilitate Safety Committee and Continuous Improvement Teams for the facility.

· Maintain accurate EHS records and databases in accordance with government regulations and to coordinate continuous improvement metrics, leading & lagging metrics reporting for the facility (Incident, Hazards, and Behavior Based Safety (BBS)database, SDS/MSDS database, Waste tracking, etc.).

· Conduct EHS program training for new hires and conduct required annual training. Develop and conduct new training programs as needed.

· Coordinate and lead incident investigations in conjunction with the supervisor / Department Manager.

· Ensures compliance with all EHS regulations, and keeps abreast of any changes to laws and regulations that impact the organization.

· Serves as contact with all federal, state, and local regulatory bodies.

· Coordinate and schedule as necessary: PFTs, physicals, hearing tests, safety glasses, drug testing, blood spill work and wellness.

· Assist HR Manager with worker’s compensation claims information.

· Perform other duties as may be assigned.

Qualifications

· BS. Degree in Occupational Safety and Health or related preferred; or 1-3 years Safety

experience in a manufacturing setting.

· Knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and other government regulations

· Effective written and verbal communication skills.

· Strong team orientation

· Proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, and comfortable using a variety of software programs.
