JOB DESCRIPTION

 

Job Title: Printing Machine Operator - Technician
Department: Printing    
Reports to: Printing Shift Supervisor
FLSA Status: Hourly
    
Summary: The following details the expectations of a Printing Machine Operator Technician:    

 

  • Operate printing machinery - assist with plate changes as necessary
  • Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
  • Ensure the SAFETY of all employees.
    Follow all Lock-out/Tag-out procedures.
    Know and follow all PMO work instructions. 
    Stir and add ink.
    Clean blankets and plates.
    Change blankets.
    Start/stop printers.
    Clean color heads, rollers and fountains.
    Set up color heads for next print run. 
    Complete plate changes if Cell Leader requests.
    Check plates, inks, set-up and color standard against printer set up sheet.
    Clear unload and in-feed jams.
    Maintain appropriate speed assigned each press.
    Follow all GMPs.
    Fill in for Cell Leader when necessary.
    Must complete PMOT Training booklet.
    Any other duties assigned by Cell Lead, Group Lead, or Manager.  
        
    Supervisory Responsibilities:
    This job has minimal supervisory responsibilities.

Qualifications

  • To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.   • Must have 3 or less attendance points.
    Must have good Quality record.    
    Must have good Safety record.
    Must take Mechanical Aptitude test.
    Must PASS color blindness test.
    Must score "Average" or better on Munsell Hue test

 

  • Education and/or Experience:
    High School diploma or equivalent.  
  • Language Skills:
    Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.  
  • Mathematical Skills:
    Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.  
  • Physical Demands:

  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. The employee must possess the ability to differentiate colors.
