Responsibilities

Purpose: Assure efficient manufacturing of a quality product that meets or exceeds customer expectations.

           Responsibilities:

  • Perform changeovers and completes changeover setup form
  • Arranges assistance for changeover
  • Responsible for the cleaning of blenders and other equipment for material changes
  • Pre-blend and oversee the blending or mixing of resins in off-line as well as on line
  • Completes paperwork for production sheet, labor log, scrap sheet and daily functional check sheet.
  • Make sure scrap gets weighed and recorded on shift paperwork or entered into MRP system
  • Set all secondary equipment (printer, punches, venting, portable winders, etc) and test functionality to assure proper set-up and operation
  • Watches for and reacts to stack light alerts
  • Supports and complies with safety, food safety and environmental guidelines
  • Make machine adjustments as needed to maintain required product quality and/or as identified by Packer/Inspector
  • Implements Berry incident protocol for medical assistance and applies first aid if trained
  • Identifies equipment shortfalls and completes maintenance request forms
  • Closes orders in system when complete
  • Identifies and strives to meet expected rates or standards of production and notes correct variance code in system
  • Collects, weighs and documents all scrap; enters in system
  • Assures that repro is being run into product at predetermined
  • Bill of Materials adjustments and corrections

 

Secondary Responsibilities include:

  • Continue to check run rates.
  • Performs quality checks front to back (resins, silos, computer info., blender settings, etc.)
  • Ensures tools are in proper location
  • Ensures axillary equipment is in working condition (press, vents V-board, etc.)
  • Ensures the ink room is in proper order
  • Cleans around extruders and blenders
  • Documents any maintenance and safety concerns
  • Perform all duties of a Utility

 

 

Qualifications

Qualifications

·         High school diploma or GED equivalent.

·         2-5 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment with extrusion experience preferred.

·         Ability to adhere to Berry’s Safety, Health, and Environmental Vision, Policy, and Standards.

·         Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal skills.

·         Ability to read and write to complete required forms and verify quality products are produced.

·     Ability to work independently.

·     Ability to work in warm and cool climates for 8 or more hours per day or night.

·     Ability to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) which includes hairnets,  safety glasses, safety goggles, hearing protection, steel toe shoes/boots, face shield, gloves, and face mask.

·     Ability to handle & resolve problems.

·     Ability to work overtime, holidays, weekends, days or nights, for 8 or more hours.

·     Ability to stand, sit, kneel, bend, stoop, climb, reach, and crawl for extended periods multiple times per day.

·     Ability to lift up to 50 pounds unassisted.

·     Must have good vision, eye-hand coordination, and hearing.

·     Must have manual dexterity involving total wrist action, twisting, pulling, and raising arms at or above shoulder height.

·     Must be punctual; at line on time.

·     No fear of heights.

·     Can read and follow written and verbal instructions & specifications in English.

·     Ability to read a ruler to 1/8”/tape measure and gauge caliper device.

·         Basic math skills.
