Responsibilities

Under the direction of the Plant Manager, the Process Engineer is responsible for leading activities related to the standardization and trouble-shooting of the blow molding process.   

 

Follow all safety rules and position SOPs

  • Ensure appropriate procedures are in place for change overs
  • Develop programs for Continuous Improvement
  • Provide engineering feedback on new designs to insure process capability
  • Recommends and implements measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product leading to reduced scrap
  • Create standard operating procedures and observe team to ensure compliance
  • Participate in all CQV, DOE, and capability studies
  • Train Technical staff
  • Participate in applicable MOC requirements
  • Assists in goal setting and tracks progress
  • Provides technical support to manufacturing for capability issues and technical improvements
  • Motivate and coach employees through good communication and feedback. Identifies and coordinates additional training as needed
  • Assures product/process quality by setting process variable, establishing standards, and confirming manufacturing process
  • Improves manufacturing efficiency by planning and analyzing workflow
  • Maintains SPC monitoring operation and reporting setting limits and testing methods
  • Works with production, maintenance, and setup departments to optimize processes
  • Understands DMAIC process
  • Stabilize troubleshooting process
  • Control changes to setup parameters
  • Lead and coordinate training & standardization for setup operators
  • Scientific molding, take from Art to Science
  • Able to lift up to 35 lbs.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree preferred or relevant experience
    • Plastics experience preferred
    • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills
    • Experience with SPC monitoring
    • Skilled in Lean Principles
    • Possess well-developed communication skills both written & verbal
    • Computer skills with the ability to create PowerPoint slide decks and maintain spreadsheets
    • Demonstrates organizational skills, is very detail oriented, and can effectively prioritize time
    • Prior experience operating/maintaining industrial machinery
    • Data and statistical analysis skills (Excel, Minitab)
    • Ability to read, interpret, & perform the physical requirements related to SOPs
    • Knowledge of automation, robots, and vision systems a plus
