Responsibilities

Essential Functions

· Directs all SBM machine processing systems within appropriate process guidelines;

· Responsible for directing the shift to maximize production requirements’

· Insures that the quality of all products produced meet the customer’s specifications;

· Works with Sr. Process Technician on implementing modifications and improvements, scheduling new project work, sampling, machine maintenance, and other tasks outside the normal day to day operation.

· Reviews daily production performance to ensure that the department is meeting efficiency goals;

· Serves as an example for housekeeping and safety standards;

· Works with maintenance staff to ensure that mechanical issues are corrected.

· Insures that daily PMs are performed and recorded

· Documents all shift performance in Log Books

· Responsible for accurate recordkeeping and reporting of daily production numbers;

· Responsible for maintaining the Food Safety Program (GMP)

· Other duties as assigned

 

Position Requirements

· Can verify quality of finished product (measure/visual to control plan) and properly react to problem

· Demonstrates working knowledge of dryers and reacts to “out of control” conditions

· Understands and demonstrates proper safety procedures (LOTO, safety block usage, proper propane torch usage, the opening of safety latch door for 2nd safety, etc.)

· Can verify barrel heats, nozzle heats, and hot runner heats to process document and identify an actual temperature outside of 5 degrees of set point.

· Can verify actual injection pressures by gage to Process Sheet

· Demonstrates proper Daily PM compliance with all paperwork completed

· Demonstrates proper/safe “purging”

· Demonstrates proper Burn out procedures (gates and sprue bushing)

· Can start all SBM press from cold (verifies all water is turned on, heats on, dryer on, air on)

· Can stop all presses and perform all proper shutdown procedures

· Can remove a short shot from an injection core and cavity using brass tools

· Can identify a quality problem by neck ring, cavity, and injection core

· Can troubleshoot and correct complex processing problems

· Can verify actual cycle time variation and reacts to “out of control” situations

· Can verify air pressures by gage, water temp by gage, and water pressure by gage

· Can detect a water leak at the molds and nozzle and react correctly

· Can detect an oil leak within the machine (shut-off nozzle, hydraulic line, rotary seal) and prevent product contamination

· Can detect an air leak and identify general location (air line, blow mold obstruction, etc.)

· Working knowledge of material load system and troubleshooting problems with the load system;

· Can setup color blender for color changes

 

PPE Required – Requirements are proper hearing protection, safety glasses (prescription if required), steel-toed shoes,

Qualifications

Qualification Requirements

· Manual Dexterity -- The ability to quickly move hand, hand together with arm, or two hands to grasp, manipulate, or assemble objects.

· Mechanical aptitude –Strong mechanical aptitude with demonstrated knowledge of troubleshooting and basic mechanical repairs.

· Processing skills – Strong SBM processing skills with the ability to solve complex processing issues.

· Forklift certification – The ability to operate a forklift in a safe manner consistent with OSHA standards

· Information Ordering -- The ability to arrange things or actions in a certain order or pattern according to a specific rule or set of rules (e.g., patterns of numbers, letters, words, pictures, mathematical operations).

· Near Vision -- The ability to see details at close range (within a few feet of the observer).

· Extent Flexibility -- The ability to bend, stretch, twist, or reach with your body, arms, and/or legs.

· Wrist-Finger Speed -- The ability to make fast, simple, repeated movements of the fingers, hands, and wrists.

· Multilimbed Coordination -- The ability to coordinate two or more limbs (for example, two arms, two legs, or one leg and one arm) while sitting, standing, or lying down. It does not involve performing the activities while the whole body is in motion.

 

· Lifting Requirements -- Ability to lift 30 pounds over head to total height of six feet

· Walking/Standing---Requirements ability to walk and or stand for 12 hours per day.

 

Authorities

· Report any safety concerns to management and to shut down any equipment that presents a safety hazard

· Make any necessary adjustments to produce a quality product and to stop production if there is a threat of nonconforming product being produced

· Perform essential functions and assigned duties while communicating any deviations from the requirements to management

 

 

 

Position Hours

· Assigned 12-hour schedule

· Schedule rotates as follows: two days on, two days off, three days on, two days off, etc.

· Flexibility for occasional overtime and call-in work required

 

 

Organization Relationships

· Report directly to Shift Supervisor for purposes of scheduling, performance evaluation, and compensation assessment

· Indirectly reports to Department Manager for product requirements, quality requirements, and overall departmental goals.
