Responsibilities
Safety
- Ensure personal safety and the safety of fellow employees
- Complies with all EHS directives and follows all plant safety rules
- Ensures a clean work area on assigned machine/section
Quality
- Ensure accuracy of materials being loaded into assigned lines
- Ensure accuracy of material labelling in assigned section
- Ensure accuracy of material scanning in assigned section
Production
- Monitor and make changes as needed to material conveying equipment and notify leadership of changes
- Monitor material inventories, do material count, and order material when necessary
- Perform daily assigned tasks: materials section, trailer loading/ unloading, resin washer, blend station, and/ or scrap grinder
- Work with support groups to troubleshoot and correct material conveying equipment issues
- Utilize the JDE system/ truck mounted scanners for material tracking
- Operate a fork lift, or electric pallet jack safely and efficiently
- Complete material/ color changes efficiently and accurately

- Ensures a clean work area on assigned machine/section
- A clean work environment is critical to safety in preventing slips, trips, and falls
Quality
- Ensure accuracy of materials being loaded into assigned lines
- The quality of the incoming material will directly affect the final part quality, therefore it is crucial that the correct materials are loaded accurately into the lines.
- Ensure accuracy of material labelling in assigned section
- Materials must be weighed and labelled correctly to ensure the correct material type and amount are recorded
- Ensure accuracy of material scanning in assigned section
- Materials must be accurately scanned to retain proper records for inventory
Production
- Monitor and make changes as needed to material conveying equipment and notify leadership of changes
- The material handler will make adjustments to materials systems as prescribed by shift leadership
- Monitor material inventories, do material count, and order material when necessary
- Material handlers may be asked to daily/ frequent material inventory checks
- Perform daily assigned tasks: materials section, trailer loading/ unloading, resin washer, blend station, and/ or scrap grinder
- Material handlers will perform various assigned taks, they will be assigned to one or more of the following each shift: materials section, scrap grinder, wash station, resin washer, trailer load/ unload
- Work with support groups to troubleshoot and correct material conveying equipment issues
- Coordinate maintenance events regarding material systems when material delivery becomes an issue
- Utilize the JDE system/ truck mounted scanners for material tracking
- Truck mounted DCLink terminals are used to maintain materials inventory
- Operate a fork lift, or electric pallet jack safely and efficiently
- Must abide by EVV rolling stock policy (EVVSOP- 0494) to ensure safe powered truck operation
- Complete material/ color changes efficiently and accurately
- When line changeovers occur the material type and or color may need to be changed, it is the role of the material handler to ensure this portion of the changeover goes as proficiently and efficiently as possible
Qualifications
Authorities
- Authority to operate a powered industrial truck
- Authority to correct improper/ inadequate safety measures, SQF, or GMP
- Authority to scrap “in-process” materials
- Authority to contact QA to place product on hold
- Authority to diagnose equipment and coordinate maintenance efforts with associated support departments
- Authority to input data into online data systems
- Authority to retrieve paperwork and labels
- Authority to operate production line equipment associated with material delivery in thermoforming
- Authority to train new-hire material handlers (with experience)
- Authority to progressively express concerns up the chain-of-command
