Responsibilities

  • Learn and understand external/internal customer’s requirements
  • Set up and maintain 5S projects to enhance the moral, development, and external view of the department by our internal and external customers
  • Follow full truckload guidelines accurately and timely as instructed
  • Understand that professional conduct is expected at all times
  • Understand and adhere to all ISO/SQF guidelines and policies
  • Follow unloading guidelines accurately and timely as instructed
  • Follow LTL, UPS, Fedex, and DHL Shipment Guidelines as instructed
  • Assist in monthly department meetings as needed
  • Support all training in the department using ISO training checklist criteria
  • Understand and enact shutdown procedures during holidays and other times when warehouses will be closed for an extended period
  • Have the availability to work any shift and cover for vacations as needed
  • Perform any other required task as directed
  • Manage employees effectively to ensure work is completed while maintaining a comfortable and balanced work environment
  • Ensure all safety procedures are communicated and followed to protect life and property
  • Report maintenance concerns to the appropriate parties for corrections
  • Investigate, verify, and report inventory discrepancies
  • Initiate pre-shift meetings within the department and provide opportunity for weekly team meetings as needed
  • Share daily safety talks with the department with material supplied by EHS Dept
  • Report and correct any unsafe or potential unsafe conditions

AUTHORITIES

  • Assist with department goals, metrics tracking, and reporting
  • Track and verify completion of all inbound shipments
  • Understand and support C Pro documentation and requirements for the department
  • Track and follow up on in discrepancies regarding Time-off-Task and departmental metrics as needed
  • Insure compliance of forklift safety checklist
  • Track and submit all EHS required documentation as needed to meet and exceed departmental metrics
  • Investigate and report all near misses and accidents
  • Review Kronos timekeeping for all team members on shift
  • Insure proper alignment of labor to required workload to insure department metrics are being followed
  • Provide detailed documentation of any and all disciplinary actions and/or employee coaching

Qualifications

  • High school diploma / GED equivalent
  • Ability to work in an inclusive and diverse environment
  • Must be Berry Forklift Certified
  • Must be able to meet all of the above responsibilities to perform the job
  • Support and be an example of Berry Code of Respect and Berry Values to all employees
  • Strong organizational skills such as placement of labor requirements to meet demands, storage of materials, layout of warehouses, and providing office efficiency
  • Provide knowledge of Excel, PowerPoint, and Word software applications
  • Proven skill in JDE and DcLink applications
  • Training and/or proven proficiency in written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to delegate and give direction as needed
  • Ability to safely operate a forklift in high traffic, low clearance areas while not posing a safety risk to others
  • Must not be at risk of sudden alterations in consciousness
  • Hearing sufficient to recognize and respond to shouted warnings, alarms and horns on forklifts
  • Stereoptic vision of 20/40 or better and peripheral vision of 70 degrees or greater and ability to read 10-12 point font at a distance of 12-18 inches
  • Ability to lift 45 pounds at a minimum of 10 times per hour
  • Ability to lift 45 pounds over shoulder height a minimum of 10 times per hour
  • Able to work in extremes of heat / cold
