Responsibilities

The primary duties and responsibilities of the Shift Supervisor consist of, but are not limited to, the following:

   

  • Accountable for the safety of all employees for whom they are responsible through active engagement in safety activities and provides clear, consistent communication of safe work expectations.
  • Supports and investigates situations in which line/equipment stoppage occurs due to perceived, imminent safety risk.
  • Completes responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and procedures, and applicable laws
  • Actively leads risk assessment activities for their area of responsibility by driving prioritized corrective and preventive actions to eliminate/reduce environmental, health or safety risks.
  • Lead all required meetings with safety (i.e. Pre-shift, Department, Change Management, General communication, etc.)
  • Completes incident investigations, root cause analysis and implements corrective actions accordingly in a timely and thorough manner. 
  • Responsible for tracking and directing all parts manufactured as needed for work order.
  • Responsible for overseeing production rate of skilled labor to monitor workflow, efficiency and quality.
  • Responsible for issuing corrective action notifications for program areas failing to meet the quality / delivery expectations.
  • Responsible for consistently evaluating / documenting personnel performance as needed.
  • Responsible for managing housekeeping of entire production area
  • Responsible for supervising, overseeing and directing all department employees in their daily performance of job duties as it pertains to their productivity, quality of product manufactured, housekeeping and safety.
  • Responsible for training assignments of new employees, evaluate progress during 90-day probationary period, recommends discharge or retention.
  • Responsible for: conducting all counseling and written warnings, suspensions and discharges for warranted violations of plant rules.
  • Responsible for reviewing and approving all hours worked by employees are accurate in the time card system.

EDUCATION, SKILLS & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENT:

 

  • High School Diploma, GED or equivalent required. 
  • Preferred 2-4-year college or technical degree preferred.
  • Five years of manufacturing experience, with at least two years’ experience as a leader and/or supervisor.
  • Six Sigma Certification and or training
  • Preferred 3-4 years’ experience with Husky or other type of injection molding Machines
  • Ability to organize and prioritize work activities for self and others, and to handle multiple projects simultaneously
  • Ability to utilize a variety of computer software (Microsoft products preferred)
  • Excellent communication, investigation, coaching and mentoring skills
  • Equal amounts of time spent sitting, standing, bending, and lifting/moving.
