Responsibilities

Essential Functions

  • Oversees maintenance on all machinery during shift;
  • Responsible for troubleshooting all plant maintenance issues during shift, as requested;
  • Provides timely repairs, upkeep and preventive maintenance;
  • Insures that adequate repair parts are stocked;
  • Uses MRO system for removing and returning parts from inventory
  • Makes recommendations for equipment improvements;
  • Assists with set-ups, start-ups, and qualifications:
  • Strives for continuous improvement of equipment;
  • Serves as an example for housekeeping and safety standards;
  • Insures that daily PMs are performed and recorded
  • Responsible for entering all Work Order Requests into automated tracking system;
  • Responsible for accurate recordkeeping and reporting of Work Order Request information;
  • Responsible for maintaining the Food Safety Program (GMP)
  • Other duties as assigned

 

Position Requirements

  • Experience in industrial maintenance with skills in mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and PLC;
  • Capable of fabrication and design
  • Proficient in the use of computers, especially in a work order tracking system and an MRO system;
  • Able to use automated scanning equipment;
  • Can troubleshoot and correct complex mechanical machine issues problems;
  • Can verify air pressures by gage, water temp by gage, and water pressure by gage
  • Can detect a water leak at the molds and nozzle and react correctly
  • Can detect an oil leak within a processing machine (shut-off nozzle, hydraulic line, rotary seal) and prevent product contamination
  • Can detect an air leak and identify general location (air line, blow mold obstruction, etc.)
  • Working knowledge of material load system and troubleshooting problems with the load system;
  • Ability to work well in a team environment;
  • Ability to provide guidance and leadership to peers and to production personnel;
  • 3-5 years experience in a high-speed assembly production environment as a maintenance mechanic.

 

PPE Required – Requirements are proper hearing protection, safety glasses (prescription if required), steel-toed shoes, hairnet, beardnet (if employee has chin hair greater than 1/8 inch). 

 

Authorities:

  • Perform essential functions and assigned duties while communicating any deviations from the requirements to management
  • Report any safety concerns to management and to shut down any equipment that presents a safety hazard
  • Stop production or shutdown equipment for any machine malfunction deemed to be a functional property

 

Qualifications

Qualification Requirements

  • Manual Dexterity -- The ability to quickly move hand, hand together with arm, or two hands to grasp, manipulate, or assemble objects.

 

  • Mechanical aptitude –Strong mechanical aptitude with 3-5 years of demonstrated knowledge of troubleshooting and experience in electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic and PLC’s. 

 

  • Forklift certification – The ability to operate a forklift in a safe manner consistent with OSHA standards

 

  • Information Ordering -- The ability to arrange things or actions in a certain order or pattern according to a specific rule or set of rules (e.g., patterns of numbers, letters, words, pictures, mathematical operations).

  • Near Vision -- The ability to see details at close range (within a few feet of the observer).

  • Extent Flexibility -- The ability to bend, stretch, twist, or reach with your body, arms, and/or legs.

  • Wrist-Finger Speed -- The ability to make fast, simple, repeated movements of the fingers, hands, and wrists.

  • Multilimb Coordination -- The ability to coordinate two or more limbs (for example, two arms, two legs, or one leg and one arm) while sitting, standing, or lying down. It does not       involve performing the activities while the whole body is in motion.

  • Lifting Requirements -- Ability to lift 30 pounds over head to total height of six feet

  • Walking/Standing---Requirements ability to walk and or stand for 12 hours per day.

 

Position Hours

  • Assigned by manager
  • Schedule rotates as follows: two days on, two days off, three days on, two days off, etc.
  • Flexibility for occasional overtime and call-in work required

 

 

Organization Relationships

  • Report directly to Maintenance Manager
  • Interacts with Production Management, Human Resources, Quality Control, Warehouse, and Tool Room.
