PURPOSE
The Forklift Operator moves material, supplies and finished goods to designated areas utilizing a sit-down forklift and loads product onto trailers according to all Berry Global ISO and other established program requirements.

QUALIFICATIONS
EXPERIENCE
H.S. graduate or equivalent and previous forklift operation. Previous warehouse experience in loading and unloading trucks in addition to experience in doing inventories, pick sheets, shipping and/or receiving. Must be dependable, reliable and mature enough to handle equipment safely and sensibly.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, write, understand and communicate in English. Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to do functional math; i.e. adding, subtracting, multiplying and division.
SAFETY
Adheres to safety policies and procedures in compliance with Berry’s guidelines. Visually inspects production area for tripping hazards, equipment safeguards, employee’s safety, adherence to policies and maintains a clean work environment.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. Manual dexterity required with exposure to arm, wrist and back fatigue. The employee continuously uses their arms, hands and fingers to handle, grasp, hold, grip and squeeze. The employee routinely bends and can lift and average of 35 lbs to handle product as needed which can vary from occasionally to frequently depending on volume and work assignment. May at times be required to lift up to 65 lbs. if necessary, on occasion. May at times need to climb and descend stairs. The employee routinely stands walks the warehouse area to check production and consult with other employees. The employees routinely step up 1½ feet and pulls themselves into the seat of a forklift. Employee routinely twists to look back as routinely drives forklift in reverse direction. Operation of pallet jacks, lifting equipment and driving the forklift are essential to job responsibilities. Employee generally works an eight (8) hours shift with overtime as needed. Employee is required to wear safety glasses at all times.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions on this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is constantly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to very loud. An essential part of this position is to work in a teamwork environment. The employee is continuously exposed to temperature variances, extreme heat during the Spring and Summer and cold temperatures during the Winter.
