PURPOSE:

 

The Plant Director is responsible for leading the Riverhead, NY operations team. In this role, the successful candidate will ensure the plant strives to meet or exceed production goals, quality standards, within budget while operating safety. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading a team that is responsible for all aspects of a successful operation.

Responsibilities

  • Promote a safe work environment that drives continuous improvement in all aspects of employee health and safety.  Actively participate in all EH&S initiatives.
  • Provide leadership and direction for salaried and hourly manufacturing employees as it relates to day to day operations and long term continuous improvement
  • Engage the workforce to reduce costs
  • Coordinate all plant resources to address issues and improve metrics
  • Work with all employees to promote a work environment that adheres to all company policies and principles.  Assure that all policies are administered consistently throughout the plant.
  • Coach and mentor operations leaders and other core personnel to become more valuable employees for the organization
  • Communicate departmental performance to all employees as it relates to safety, quality, and cost
  • Lead and coordinate cost reduction projects.  Mentor direct reports on their cost reduction initiatives.
  • Support the efforts of other functional groups to improve plant performance and systems
  • Support the development of annual budget
  • Assist in recruitment of new hire salaried employees through interviews and assessments
  • Perform all other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree or 5 years of equivalent experience preferred
  • Demonstrable skill set in Continuous Improvement and problem solving: Lean (TPS) and/or Six Sigma
  • 5+ years supervisory experience. 3 to 4 years in a front line supervisory and/or superintendent role in a manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge of and experience in leading a progressive manufacturing facility
  • Strong organizational skills with proven ability to complete multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Excellent analytical skills required
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to lead others
  • Must be comfortable in large group presentations
  • Good interpersonal skills when dealing with tough employee issues
  • Knowledge of Microsoft office tools
  • Strong planning/organizing skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced team setting

Compensation:

 

$170,000 - $195,000
