The Process Technician will assist and guide experiments, trials, and pilot scale production runs in Berry Global's R & D Facilities.

Responsibilities

  • Start-up, running and shutdown of R&D equipment, including but not limited to: blown and cast film lines, laminator, laser, and slitter along with other pieces of supporting equipment (dryer, twin screw, forklift, etc.)
  • Ability to run trials on and be the lead operator on at least one of the pieces of equipment (cast line, blown line, Dusenbery, laminator, etc.) from more than 1 year.
  • Ability to conduct some maintenance and clean up on lines as needed.
  • Ability to learn and conduct quality testing in the lab as needed.
  • Check film quality for defects as often as time permits and if needed, correct accordingly.
  • Perform duties correctly and in a safe manner.
  • Manage material loading systems to insure proper materials blends and structures.
  • Ensure samples are ran per the Sample Request.
  • Ensure all equipment is operational and perform minor repairs as necessary.
  • Notify Manager if a machine failure occurs
  • Consult with PD engineers on potential new projects or modifications to proprietary processes and equipment.
  • Ability to assist with Product Development project initiation.
  • Maintain the department in a clean, safe, and orderly manner.
  • Maintain and enforce all company safety, environmental, and Department of Health requirements.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent required with good verbal and written communication skills (preferred 2-4 yr. degree )
  • Technical expertise in multiple manufacturing areas.
  • Reliable with a strong attendance record
  • Ability to interface with employees at all levels within the facility
  • Safety orientated with a continuous improvement mindset
  • Self-motivated with ability to complete multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Computer skills—Excel, Word, and Lotus Notes.
  • Ability to travel, as necessary.
