Responsibilities

  • Assume responsibility for assigned projects. Involve and utilize the appropriate resources to achieve objectives.
  • Responsible for optimizing production through efficient use of equipment, raw materials, and lab resources.
  • Support the current Quality Management System and pursue recognizable or identified
  • opportunity for improvement.
  • Reviews artwork concepts for cost-effective production and introduction through interaction with design groups, customers, and sales.
  • Responsible for developing, implementing and maintaining Standard Operating Procedures for all printing presses.
  • Recommends, develops and helps implement Critical Process Equipment system. Also develops other systems, which improve reliability, reduces costs and maintains “world-class” operational controls.
  • Leads/Champions specific World Class Operations initiatives including Quality and Efficiency Programs such as Lean Manufacturing, ISO, 5S and Six Sigma
  • Analyzes production records to insure production meets capabilities.
  • Insures quality and service standards are met and exceeded through establishing of standards, statistical methods, good communication, follow-up and proper training.
  • Demonstrate good judgment and strong decision-making skill to trouble shoot problematic situations.
  • Support other functional groups as needed.
  • Works closely with internal and / or external customers to define requirements and translate them into measurable objectives.
  • Apply statistical techniques to analyze and measure data or progress, as appropriate.
  • Defines and reports opportunities for product reliability improvements, as necessary. Works closely with the Production Manager(s) to recommend and justify needed equipment upgrades or modifications.
  • Determine process capabilities to improve productivity and efficiencies, where applicable.

  2. b) Supervision Given: Assists and oversees assigned functional group. Carries out supervisory responsibility in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include; interviewing, hiring and training employees, assigning and directing work, appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining employees, and addressing complaints.

 

Qualifications

Qualifications: "To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.   1. a) Education: BS in engineering or equivalent, or five or more years related experience and / or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Previous supervision and project management experience preferred. Must have an in-depth understanding of chemical properties within the plastic industry.
  2. b) Experience: Minimum of 5 years manufacturing experience preferably in Flexographic printing. Experience in Lean Manufacturing, 5S, ISO, Six Sigma is a plus. Successful supervisory and team leadership experience is required.
  3. c) Physical/Cognitive Requirements:

 Language Skills: Ability to read, write, and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating, process, and procedure manuals. Ability to write technical reports and routine correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups.

Mathematical Skills: Ability to calculate and apply statistical analysis to data associated with the process department.

 Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Physical Demands: Work is performed in a manufacturing environment with frequent contact with others. Requires walking, standing, prolonged sitting and frequent bending, stooping and stretching, manual dexterity. Ability to distinguish letters, occasional lifting, and the use of office equipment.
