The Consumer Packaging-North America Division has an immediate need for a Product Development Engineer. As a member of the Containers Product Development team, this role will have responsibility for all technical aspects of a development project from initiation through full production capability. This position will work closely with Customers, Sales, Design Engineers, Project Managers, R&D, Manufacturing and Product line Management to develop next generation products that drive profitability and growth.

 

Responsibilities

1. Lead a multi-functional team through the development of new products from concept, manufacturing implementation, and commercial launch.

2. Has responsibility for execution of the project plan and driving decisions to deliver the project on time, within budget, and within scope.

3. Responsible for oversight of the product and tooling design, which includes leading ideation sessions, conducting competitive analysis, documenting design requirements, DFMEA, and leading design reviews to ultimately gain team alignment.

4. Coordinate the Technical Development Plan that outlines all the details necessary for the Product Line Manager to respond to an RFQ or create a Business Case, including all cost inputs, capital equipment costs, and evaluation of the technologies required for the development and manufacturing.

5. Lead technical communication with both internal and external stakeholders.

6. Responsible for reporting deviations on time, cost, and deliverable project components to senior management as project progresses.

7. Responsible for adherence to Berry, industry, and/or regulatory procedures as well as Management of Change, Stage Gate, and ISO processes.

8. Work closely with Quality personnel to establish critical to quality metrics and to ensure process capability is validated for those metrics.

Qualifications

1. Bachelor's degree in Engineering, or equivalent experience.

2. Relevant experience related to product development, manufacturing, and/or injection molding.

3. Ability to travel as needed

4. Excellent verbal and written communication skills

5. Knowledge in statistical methods and programs (SPC/DOE/MiniTab)

6. Self-motivated and assertive individual

7. Ability to prioritize, multi-task, be a proactive thinker, and be results-oriented

8. Project Management experience a plus

9. Strong organizational skills with proven ability to complete multiple tasks simultaneously

10. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills are required for data driven decisions
