The Workforce Development Specialist will execute and manage the workforce development strategy that supports the long-term growth and development of the organization.
- Responsible for setting site-level workforce strategy and executing against that plan to achieve optimal headcount.
- Partner closely with Operations to understand tomorrow’s workforce and build technical training programs to meet that demand.
- Serve as a site-level Subject Matter Expert to build sustainable pipelines and activities related to tomorrow’s workforce, including refugees, knowledge transfer program, relocating manufacturing talent, ESL training, GED to work, school to work, upskilling programs, and transitioning veterans.
- Set and track metrics to determine success of a program and make adjustments in real-time.
- Identify, source supporting data, and administer grants to offset upskilling programs and costs of doing business (e.g., PPE, translations, curriculum development and trainer wages), along with revamping current processes to ensure we meet grant requirements (e.g., onboarding).
- Manage local partners, such as the department of commerce, economic development, workforce development; other non-profit or government entities, along with high schools, technical colleges and universities; and key suppliers who ensure success of our programs, such as transportation and interpreters.
- Serves as the point of contact for key external relationships, such as the refugee agencies, transportation, and technical schools and universities in coordination with the HR team.
- Facilitates activities for local career fair participation to include identifying events, coordinating plant representative attendance and all other related details.
- Establish recruitment marketing strategy, monitor performance and assess each independent initiative to determine how to best spend paid advertising dollars.
- Host regular listening sessions with Operations leaders and trainer along with trainees who have gone through a program to identify areas of opportunity.
- Manage existing refugee program to include but not limited to; build individual refugee calendars & roll out with Operations and refugee agencies, serve as point of contact for all refugee internal shift and day change requests and partner with HR, Operations, and transportation to ensure alignment.
