Responsibilities

JOB SUMMARY:

 

The general scope of this position’s responsibility is to work the reprocessing line to ensure that scrap plastic is reprocessed to be reused in our products. Close attention must be paid to the plastic not having any metal, cardboard or plastic cores mixed with it. Operators must be able to work independently with little direct supervision to reprocess the plastic ensuring the quality of pellets, safe operation of the machine, and general maintenance of the machine. The operator is also required to operate core stripping machines and large guillotine cutting machines.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

 

  • Follow all Company policies regarding safety, quality and attendance. Perform duties in a safe manner and report all observed safety hazards to management.  Act as a role model for Safety on the shift.  Participate in safety programs by reporting Unsafe Conditions, Unsafe Acts and Close Calls; enter Near Miss data and Observations into Global Data Center database (GDC)
  • General housekeeping duties must be completed each shift. Area around guillotine, under Pureloop, and day bins must be blown off and warehouse aisle swept every shift
  • It is expected that we reach our goal of 16k-20k every shift. The operator should be communicating with the supervisor about any issues relating to the Pureloop
  • Operator must be able to reach and set recipe, temperature heats and understand the Pureloop set up
  • Operator must be able to learn the different types of scrap we run and segregate
  • Operator must clean centrifuge, water bath and underneath rams
  • Operator must learn to use big guillotine to cut scrap rolls
  • Assist operator on start up and shut down, on changing screens, and cleaning die
  • Ensure materials are set up for the order and for incoming personnel (boxes, skids, cores, or other needed material)
  • Other tasks as assigned by Management, Supervisor or Lead

Qualifications

  • Ability to use hand tools and measuring instruments
  • Ability to wear all required PPE (steel toed shoes, hearing protection, safety glasses, and other PPE as required)
  • Ability to lift up to 65lbs or more
  • Ability to read and understand work orders
  • Knowledge in navigating different computer programs
  • The operator may be required to operate a forklift.
  • Ability to communicate with employees 
  • Language skills: Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, simple checklists, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to effectively communicate and present information in one-on-one and in small group situations.
  • Mathematical skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ration and percent.
  • Reasoning skills: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral diagram, or schedule form.
