Responsibilities

Day shift: 6:45am - 7pm working a 2-2-3 schedule with every other weekend off

 

PURPOSE: The Trainer will model Berry’s Good Manufacturing Practices, provide structured training packer/handlers on shift; evaluate employee’s progress and provide status needs to the shift supervisor.  The Trainer ensures that training is uniform and consistent and new hires are able to perform all the functions of a packer/handler.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ensure training is uniform and consistent
  • Evaluate employees progress and sign off on training checklist
  • Train all new employees on the lines within the plant
  • Monitor new hire through the training process and document performance accurately
  • Follow all safety and GMP practices of Berry
  • Understand how all lines within the plant operate and be able to train effectively for each line
  • Implement and maintain 5S/6S with support of Supervisors and Safety department
  • Maintain all training paperwork and submit it on time and organized
  • Understands the work order process
  • Knowledge of product specifications
  • Can read and understand travelers and other relevant documents and labels
  • Able to communicate with operators and supervisors on needed adjustments, etc.
  • Ensure quality checks are being completed
  • Operate a line when no training is needed or short staffed
  • Understands and demonstrates how to complete GDC entries
  • Knowledge of SQF/ISO
  • Staff are informed and held accountable for their food safety and regulatory responsibilities;
  • Staff are positively encouraged and required to notify management of actual or potential food safety issues; and
  • Staff are empowered to act to resolve food safety issues within their scope of work.

Qualifications

EDUCATIONAL, SKILL & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must have at least 1 year of experience as a packer/handler
  • Must know how to operate each line within the plant and perform all duties as a packer
  • Must have good attendance and safety record (Must not have a written warning or higher for attendance; must submit required GDC entries or more every month; cannot have any active safety corrective actions)
  • Must display professional verbal, non-verbal and written communication skills
  • Must be willing and able to build and maintain positive, professional relationships across the facility
  • Must be willing and able to complete ongoing training on time and consistently as needed
