Responsibilities

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Carries out leadership responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include assisting with interviewing, hiring and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.  Filling in for the Supervisor during Vacation or Sick days.

 

  1. Maintain a safe work environment by following safety policies and conducting daily section inspections.
  2. Conducts monthly departmental meetings in the absence of the Safety Manager and Shift Supervisor.
  3. Responsible for all processes, equipment, employees, safety, and housekeeping and meeting production and quality standards for the shift.
  4. To assure that the company’s quality vision policy is adhered to by all personnel within the department.
  5. Set the example by performing duties safely and address all observed safety hazards.
  6. Trained to handle emergency situations. (Fire, inclement weather, accidents)
  7. Communicating between the shift supervisor and the Team Leaders to assure information is getting to the plant floor in a timely manner.
  8. Maintain high quality standards, notifying Shift Manager of serious deficiencies.
  9. Monitor all aspects of the production process.
  10. Work to meet or exceed department and plant goals.
  11. Work with Q.A. Department for conforming and Non-Conforming products.
  12. Responsible for monitoring blend on all lines making sure the Team Leaders are keeping with in the specifications on each traveler.
  13. Maximize equipment efficiencies of MEEF and EFF.
  14. Monitors yield to help keep costs in line with goals.
  15. Maintain high standards of housekeeping.
  16. Informs Supervisor of weight variances in finished product.
  17. Work with Team Leaders and Maintenance personnel to write ‘maintenance requests’ and set priorities.
  18. Monitor the preventive maintenance of all equipment.
  19. Make minor repairs on equipment and aid in trouble shooting with maintenance technicians.
  20. Project a positive image of the Company and convey the Company spirit by promoting a Gung Ho attitude.
  21. Train and mentor Team Leaders, Senior Operators, Machine Operators, Machine Tender Packers.
  22. Work Overtime is mandatory and may be on short notice as business dictates.

 

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. High School diploma or GED or equivalent work experience.
  2. 2 years in manufacturing.
  3. Ability to use hand tools and measuring instruments
  4. Ability to read and understand work orders
  5. Knowledge in navigating different computer programs
  6. Ability to operate an electric pallet jack
  7. Must pass fork lift driver training course
  8. Ability to follow fork lift procedures and safety regulations.
  9. Ability to train new employees
  10. Ability to communicate with employees
  11. Language skills: Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, simple checklists, short correspondence, and memos.  Ability to effectively communicate and present information in one-on-one and in small group situations.
  12. Mathematical skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.  Ability to compute rate and percent.
  13. Reasoning skills: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.  Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral diagram, or schedule form.
