PURPOSE:

The Senior Accountant is responsible for reviewing BOM for preparation of standard cost for products produced at our Benson, NC facility as well as preparing cost studies requested for new and existing products. In addition, the Senior Accountant is responsible for reviewing plant expenses for accuracy, preparing journal entries for month end closing, reviewing of the accounts payable accruals and resolving issues with aged items, auditing/reviewing monthly and year-end physical inventories and calculating select customer rebates and commissions. 

Responsibilities

  • Promote and support the highest level of safety, both personally and with others throughout daily activities. Perform monthly safety observation(s) and complete available Safety training.
  • Work closely with Plant Controller to complete accurate and timely close each month for Benson facility.
  • Assist Controller with balance sheet account reconciliations.
  • Reviews Bill of Materials and routings for accuracy and maintains standard cost accuracy for manufactured items.
  • Reviews JDE transactions for accuracy.
  • Keeps record of trial expenses in the plant and reports to product development team.
  • Assists site leadership to complete reporting and closing of capital projects executed in the site.
  • Prepares weekly and monthly reports for Benson inventory levels, adjustments and material usage variances.
  • Analyzes work order variances.
  • Prepares weekly summary of cycle count transactions for site review. Works with the Materials Manager to ensure all locations are properly counted for Quarterly Cycle Count program, per corporate inventory policy.
  • Review of receipts not vouchered with Purchasing and Accounts Payables to make needed corrections to clear aged items or determine that an aged item should be written off.
  • Prepares special cost analysis as requested for new and existing products.
  • Calculates various customer rebates and broker commissions and executes requests for payment or deduction.
  • Provides any other assistance Plant Controller requests including forecast and budget inputs.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Business.
  • Minimum 4 years of related experience preferably in a manufacturing facility.
  • Strong knowledge of Excel, Word and database application (JDE/Cognos).
  • Significant understanding of manufacturing cost accounting and at least some exposure to ERP systems.
  • Must be able to travel occasionally to corporate offices or other plant locations.
  • Strong communication skills, handling of confidential information.
