Purpose: This sales role is focused on organic growht and development of new customers and/or new products within existing customers in the FIBC (Flexible Intermediate Bulk Containers) channel. Primary reponsibilities include developing new programs, products, and prospects to increase volume and sales for FIBCs. This role will interface with the management team, customer service, operations, quality, and application engineering in order to develop business programs and to service key assigned customers. Candidates for this role should have experience in new business development, techincal aptitude to determine customer requirements, and project management skills. 

Responsibilities

  • Analyze and define new business strategy, volume, profitability, technical feasibility, marketing, and product development processes 
  • Strategically balance key customer existing business with active new business and program development 
  • Develop new business prospects through leads, cold-calling, and other methods 
  • Develop long-term, multi-level commercial relationships, including needs assessment and targeted budget by customer 
  • Interact with existing customers for organic sales volume growth and new product/program development 
  • Negotiate and implement strategy, projects, pricing, and technical specs with customers 
  • Coordinate on-site trials at customer locations for new FIBCs, including an assessment of bag performance 
  • Articulate recommended technical changes/alterations to the FIBC application engineering and operations teams to meet customer performance criteria and to gain product approval 
  • Provide weekly and monthly reports and forecasts to management team 
  • Stay apprised of market and commercial developments to cite new areas of opportunity or need 
  • Conduct in-field analysis between Berry Global and competitive products as possible 
  • Develop solid working relationships internally to navigate the system independently 

Qualifications

  • Minimum of a bachelor's degree in business, Marketing, or Engineering
  • 1-3 years of experience in a packaging or technical sales role
  • Experience in new business development and demonstrated success with new customers added to a portfolio of business
  • Highly motivated, result-oriented, self-starter, able to work independently
  • Expectional negotiation, project management, and follow-up skills
  • Strong technical aptitude to learn, understand, and communicate customer manufacturing processes - and to assist in developing the product spec to meet customer requirements
  • Ability to work cross-functionally at all levels to bring projects to fruition
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • High level of business acumen
  • Strong computer, reporting, and organizational skills
  • Understanding of resin indices for pricing reviews
  • Travel ~50% of the time
  • Basic spanish skills are a plus
